Busy in the Shop! Busy out of the Shop!

I've had a lot going on in my shop lately, and I wanted to share some of the highlights with you. My name is Justin Lamoureux, and I'm the owner of Rainy Day Forge, a knife-making shop located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Here are some of the things that have been keeping me busy over the past week.

First up, I had the opportunity to be a guest on the Work For It podcast. One of the hosts was sick, and I offered to step in and help out. It was a lot of fun talking with Bryan Kohn and sharing my experiences as a knife maker and sharing my experiences with film and photography.

I also had the pleasure of taking part in the Hustle and Grind podcast with Ryan Cokely and Noah Bloomberg. It was a great opportunity to share some big laughs and talk about the ups and downs of being a small business owner.

In addition to podcast appearances, I've been busy working on my Harvest & Home culinary knife line. I'm happy to say that I've completed three knives so far, with two more to go. It's been a satisfying process to create knives that are not only functional but beautiful as hell.

One of the big events in my shop recently was the release of my new series, Fire and Slice. While it's still in a soft launch phase but, I've shown a few episodes to important knife makers, and the feedback has been extremely positive. I'm excited to see where this new venture takes me.

Finally, I'm currently working on a special project. A friend of mine and an excellent knife maker, Brad Millman, recently broke his femur and hip in a hiking accident. To support an auction for his recovery, I'll be making a Damascus friction folder knife to donate. It's an honour to be able to contribute to a good cause in this way.

So that's a bit of what's been happening in my shop lately. I've also finished my photostudio by applying acoustic panels around the wooden wall, and I'm excited to film and share a recipe submitted by a friend on my new YouTube channel as part of my marketing efforts. Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring.
